The first real exposure to roller skating to a lot of parents today is when their child is invited to a birthday party at a skating rink. At that party the child rents a pair of skates and their parents either watch them or seek to join them on the rink. From that exposure some children develop a real interest in the sport. Also, some parents decide that this is a sport that they would like to engage in with their children. This article is written for new skaters seeking to learn the sport.
Just starting out as a Roller Skater? You may want to answer some basic questions. First you might ask, what are my desires and goals that I wish to obtain with skating? Do I just want to work on staying physically fit, having fun or do I want to work towards learning a discipline?
Roller Skating just for fun, as a family and working together to stay physically fit is Fantastic! It is a great way to bring a family together enjoying exercise and companionship. Now ask, what type of skate would better fit your individual goals, Quads or In-line (Roller Blades). Understand that not everyone in the family will need nor desire the exact same type of Skate.
I can remember the very first time I put on a pair of roller skates. I was so excited and quickly learned how to skate. However, once I could start moving with ease around the rink, I realized I had a big problem. My feet started to hurt and when I finally got off my skates I realized that I had a blister. If I would have known then what I know now, I would not have had that problem. Hopefully, a few suggestions will help you to prevent developing blisters whether you are a new skater or experienced.
Do not wear your old socks. Even though you might love them, they can be a prime candidate for causing blisters as you are using skates. The reason for this is because they no longer can provide support where you most need it.
It has been several years since we we last updated our web site. In our last efforts, we simply spruced up the existing site structure and added more colorful graphics. This worked well and looked great, but we decided our customers needed more.
You will notice many major changes throughout the web site. We have a more contemporary look and feel, our menu system is improved and is more navigable than the last site. Our schedules have been updated, the Events Page has been updated and each event will now have their own pages, as well as many, many more changes. And there are still more to come!
